For Swedish Members: What Is the Real Story Behind Dominic Johansen Being Put Into State Custody?

Question by : For Swedish Members: What is the real story behind Dominic Johansen being put into state custody?
According to some news stories, Dominic Johansen was home schooled by his Swedish father and Indian mother. A caseworker noticed that Dominic had not received treatment for some dental issues like cavities and did not receive all required immunizations. The child was seized by authorities at a Swedish airport as he and his family were returning from a trip.

According to U.S. news and talk shows the true reason behind the state’s “kidnapping” of this child was because he was being homeschooled. Although, the news shows say, there is no prohibition against home schooling in Sweden it is frowned upon. Other news sources say the father is depressive and unstable.

The issue has quickly picked up news and talk show coverage here and is being politicized as yet another example of what can go wrong when the Federal government has too many powers. The conservative talk shows are stating that this is yet another example of what happens in a socialist “paradise” such as Sweden.

I’d like to get some real information from anyone familiar with the case so I can make up my own mind. Here in the U.S. caseworkers assigned to cover such issues are often overworked and let abused children fall through the cracks. Sometimes judges return the children to their natural mother even if she is a crack addict. I’m thinking of a local case in the 1980s or 1990s when a beautiful little girl, Lisa Izquierda, was abused to death by her drug addict mother and boyfriend. The case worker was called in but the child was allowed to remain with her mother. I don’t like the government telling people how to raise their children but if Lisa had been placed with a relative or in a loving home she may have grown into a beautiful young woman by this time.

There are a lot of facts that cannot really be made public in order to protect innocent parties, but suffice it to say there were a number of sexual indiscretions/crimes that made this the only real alternative. I can’t tell you more until six or seven people pass away
