Babies Born to Drug Addicted Mothers?

Question by Lyndzie: Babies born to drug addicted mothers?
I am writing a paper on drug addicted babies (meth, cocaine, heroin). Everything that I have read leads me to believe that every child born to a mother who abused drugs during her pregnancy is going to have either long term or short term issues. Is this true? If not, what factors determine if the child is going to have major issues or is it a “luck of the draw” (for lack of better words) kind of thing?

Basically … it is a “luck of the draw” kind of thing

About 99.99999% of babies born to mothers who abused drugs or alcohol suffer some kind of problems even if they aren’t really awful or obvious problems, some short term, usually long term, and sometimes the problems don’t seem to be a problem at first until the baby grows up, but yes. It’s a horrible thing to sit and listen to a crack-addicted baby cry in withdraw because his mother wouldn’t lay down the pipe while she was pregnant.
